Sodium Hypochlorite
Sodium Hypochlorite is a powerful oxidizing biocide that quickly eliminates bacteria and microorganisms, making it highly effective for disinfection processes.
Also known as Liquid chlorine for disinfectant.
Benefits
Functions as a disinfectant to destroy bacteria and microorganisms.
Commonly injected in pre-treatment to prevent biofouling on reverse osmosis membranes.
Used in post-treatment for sanitation/disinfection to ensure water is free from harmful bacteria.
In RO applications, it must be neutralized with sodium bisulfite to prevent damage to thin-film polyamide membranes.
Also applicable for various disinfection, bleaching, sterilization, and household cleaning purposes with proper dosage and usage.
Specifications
Appearance: Colorless Liquid
Specific Gravity: 1.24
pH: 12.00
Viscosity (cps): 12%
Advantages
Broad-spectrum disinfectant
Effective in removing biofilm
Easy to apply and monitor
Approved for potable water applications
Dosage & Treatment
Brackish water: 0.30–1.0 ppm free chlorine
Seawater: 1.5–3.0 ppm free chlorine
Dosage may vary depending on microbial activity in feedwater. Sodium Hypochlorite should be continuously dosed into the feedwater using a compatible metering pump, as early as possible in the system to ensure sufficient contact time. Multi-media and cartridge filters will remove most of the oxidized organics.
When applied in product water, sodium hypochlorite should maintain a residual chlorine level between 0.3–0.8 ppm.
Certification
Aquaright Sodium Hypochlorite is HALAL certified (certificate available upon request at purchase).
