One common reason and challenge for many people to consider the procurement of wastewater treatment is the limitation of land availability. This is particularly true for conventional wastewater treatment, which requires excavation and civil construction to build treatment tanks. This can be costly, time-consuming, and requires a significant amount of land.
 
PT Zefa Valindo Jaya, with over 23 years of experience, provides the best solution for this problem through the Advanced Sewage Treatment Plant (A-STP) system, which is a renewable form of conventional wastewater treatment that produces high-quality treated water in a shorter time. A-STP comes in a compartmentalized tube form that is highly efficient in land use and is portable/movable.

 

 

In 2020, PT Zefa Valindo Jaya completed an A-STP project for PT IKAINDO, a company in Medan. The A-STP was designed to treat domestic wastewater generated from the daily activities of employees. The estimated usage of clean water was around 20m3/day, while the estimated wastewater volume was around 16m3/day. The A-STP system was designed to meet the quality standards set by PERMENLHK No 68 of 2016 regarding Domestic Wastewater Quality Standards.

 

In the A-STP treatment process, biological treatment is utilized both in anaerobic and aerobic conditions to decompose the organic matter contained in the wastewater.

In the initial treatment process of A-STP, solids are separated by flowing the wastewater through a basket screen before entering the equalization chamber. The wastewater is then biologically treated by anaerobic and aerobic bacteria attached to biofilter media, such as honeycomb, bioball, and MBBR.

A-STP utilizes diffuser technology with micro-bubbles to allow oxygen to dissolve easily in water during the aerobic treatment process. A-STP is more energy-efficient compared to other treatment units because it only uses one pump for oxygen diffuser and active sludge recirculation.

 

After most of the wastewater has been treated, the next process is for the wastewater to enter the Biobox. The remaining sludge is separated and pumped back into the aerobic treatment as returned activated sludge (RAS). The clean treated water then enters the chlorination chamber where chlorine is added as a disinfectant to remove bacteria and microbes in the water.

Overall, the process takes 18-24 hours to complete. The output is clean and safe water that can be safely discharged into the environment. PT Zefa Valindo Jaya also provides further treatment for water reuse / recycling if needed.
